Understand the Notice Before You Respond

The relationship between an electrical contractor license and the business being qualified is governed by Chapter 489, Part II. A business dispute does not necessarily terminate a regulatory qualification by itself. A careful separation analysis identifies the role of the qualifying agent, the company’s approval to operate, any additional business qualifications, active projects, regulatory notices, and the facts relevant to continued supervision.

Changing business ownership, resigning from a company and removing a qualifying agent from DBPR licensing records are different steps.

Issues We Evaluate

Primary and additional business qualification

Determine which business relationships appear in DBPR records and what regulatory procedures apply to each.

Withdrawal and DBPR notice

Evaluate the proper procedure and documentation based on the applicable license and business relationship.

Project and permit exposure

Review ongoing work, permit status, supervision arrangements, and which actions remain possible or required.

Operating agreements and control

Consider the company agreement and documented authority without assuming a private dispute changes agency records.

Investigation or complaint risk

Assess whether the qualifying relationship creates separate regulatory issues that require defense.
